Coronavirus and Diabetes: COVID-19 Update

Last updated April 01, 2020.

By now all of you ladies have heard there is a VERY contagious virus spreading all over the world called the coronavirus. There is NO vaccine or medication for the coronavirus.

AND people with Diabetes, Heart Disease and other preexisting health problems are especially at risk for getting the coronavirus and having serious complications.

There is no need to panic! But it will help you A LOT to know the facts and what you can do.

That's why you need to learn the symptoms of coronavirus, where to go for accurate coronavirus information and proven ways to help prevent infection and the spread of the virus.

We'll also tell you the most recent coronavirus scams (over 25 of them) that supposedly promise cures or prevention and other common coronavirus myths! (Yes, the anus scam and ice cream scam are real scam coronavirus "cures".)

Coronavirus - Quick Facts

  • The coronavirus is a VERY contagious virus that is infecting people all over the world.
  • About 911,000 people have gotten the virus.
  • Over 45,000 people have died from the virus.
  • 180 countries have reported coronavirus infections.
  • The elderly, people with compromised immune systems, or those with preexisting sickness (like Diabetes, Heart Disease, Lung Disease or Obesity) are more likely to experience severe issues like pneumonia, organ failure or other more severe complications.
  • While over 80% of people who get the coronavirus experience mild flu symptoms...those with preexisting conditions frequently need to be hospitalized and in some cases need to be put on a ventilator.
  • There are over 203,600 cases of the coronavirus in the US and there have been over 4400 deaths. Millions of people are in self-isolation or lockdown in certain areas.
  • The death rate for the coronavirus is much higher than the seasonal flu.
  • On March 11, 2020 the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus situation a pandemic.

Coronavirus Death Rate

Fill Counter

This means 34 out of every 1000 people who got the coronavirus died

Seasonal Flu Death Rate

Fill Counter

This means 1 out of every 1000 people who got the seasonal flu died

Unfortunately, if you have a preexisting condition, like Diabetes, or Heart Disease, the death rate for the coronavirus is higher.

Coronavirus and Heart Disease – 10.5 % death rate

Coronavirus and Diabetes – 7.3 % death rate

Coronavirus and Respiratory Disease – 6.3 % death rate

Coronavirus and High Blood Pressure – 6 % death rate

Coronavirus and Cancer – 5.6 % death rate

Coronavirus and Diabetes – A Bad Combination

Unfortunately, having Diabetes increases your risk for getting coronavirus.

Diabetes also increases your risk for severe coronavirus complications.

"Diabetes may increase risk for infection from COVID-19 two- to threefold, independently of other medical problems, such as Heart Disease....In past infectious disease outbreaks, including (SARS) and H1N1 flu, people with diabetes were at increased risk for severe illness and death."

Mescape: Diabetes, CVD Tied to Worse Prognosis for COVID-19 Infection. Feb 25, 2020

Because people with Diabetes are at a greater risk for getting coronavirus, NOW is the time to be super, super, super, super, super, super, super focused on getting and staying healthy.

Trustworthy Sources of Coronavirus Information

There is a LOT of coronavirus info on the internet that is false.

There's also millions of scam "coronavirus cures" on Facebook, Amazon and the internet too.

amazon bans fake coronavirus products

Make sure you're getting your information from reliable sources! (Not from ads selling stuff!)

These 4 sources are reliable sources of coronavirus info and most are being updated almost on a daily basis:

Woman in mask

Wear a mask ONLY if you have the coronavirus. Your mask will help protect others from catching the virus if you have it.

But! wearing a mask when you’re healthy will not prevent you from getting the coronavirus.

The coronavirus germs travel through the air when a sick person breaths, talks, coughs or sneezes. This is how the coronavirus is passed to other people.

The coronavirus germs can also transfer to you if you touch something that has the coronavirus germs on it (like a door handle).

Coronavirus Bogus Cures and Fake News

Don't be fooled by people tying to sell you junk or "secret" techniques that will supposedly prevent you from getting the coronavirus or cure you.

There is NO specific food or other product you can eat or drink to prevent or cure coronavirus.

There is NOTHING you can put on your body or expose yourself to that will prevent or cure coronavirus.
