Prediabetes And Lentils

Did you know that lentils are a low glycemic food? This means you get a SLOWER and LOWER blood sugar response when you eat lentils. Yippee! So let's get right into learning about Prediabetes and lentils.


Lentils are great for blood sugar control because they're full of fiber and packed with all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to get you out of the Prediabetes zone.

There's some great research too about how foods like lentils help you lose weight, improve your A1C and whole bunch of other great results. 

Low Glycemic Foods And Blood Sugar Control

Some ladies are willing to add a few whole grains into their diet...but then they avoid lentils/beans because they think those types of foods are 'too carby'. 

Turns out that refusing to add lentils and beans is a terrible idea!

Here's why...


A very interesting study was done a few years ago.

Some scientists compared:

Eating a high cereal fiber diet vs. a low glycemic diet...


...both the high cereal fiber diet and the low glycemic diet got top marks for: 

  • Lowering  blood glucose
  • Lowering body weight
  • Lowering A1C
  • Lowering Triglycerides
  • Lowering cholesterol
  • Lowering Blood Pressure

Both were a success! Both diets had HUGE health benefits.

But which one did the best?????


The low glycemic diet was the winner!  

But what was the difference between the two diets?

The low glycemic diet included LENTILS and BEANS.


Bottom line?

If you want to get the maximum benefit from food...

...add lower glycemic foods like lentils and beans!

(You can eat the whole grains too, just make sure to also add lentils and beans.)

Just make sure there aren't other ADDED flours like rice flour or white flour. This is my favorite lentil pasta...
