9 Prediabetes Questions To Ask Your Doctor

When To Go The Doctor

If you have any of the following, you need to go the doctor ASAP and ask to be tested for BOTH Insulin Resistance AND Diabetes.

Symptoms and Problems That Likely Mean Insulin Resistance, Prediabetes or Type 2 Diabetes:

Don’t delay! If you are at all concerned, go to the doctor and ask to be tested.

Your Test Results

After you've had your tests, you need to ask your doctor a whole bunch of questions.

DON'T be shy!

Take control and ask all the questions you need so you fully understand your situation and your diagnosis. You can't rely on your doctor necessarily tell you everything I outline for you below.

Questions to Ask Your Doctor About Your Test Results

  1. What are my test results? 
  2. Can I get copy of my results for my records? (this is super important!)
  3. What is my diagnosis based on my results?
  4. Am I Prediabetic or Diabetic?
  5. Do I need to take other tests?

Are you Prediabetic or Diabetic?

If so...you need to test your blood sugar in the morning (fasting) and after meals. If you only have Insulin Resistance it doesn't help much to test your blood sugar since you still have blood sugar control.

Your doctor may suggest medication.

Before you agree to anything, ask some questions first! Remember, it's YOUR body and YOUR life...you need to take responsibility.

Questions to Ask Your Doctor About Medication:

  1. Do I have to take meds? 
  2. Can I try diet and lifestyle changes FIRST
  3. What can I expect when I take meds? 
  4. Are there side effects OR risks I need to be aware of?

The most common Diabetes medication (metformin) has been having issues with contaminants that are linked to cancer...

If you've received a positive Insulin Resistance, Prediabetes or Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis, you need to go  back to the doctor to check your progress.

Insulin Resistance or Prediabetes = 6 months follow up visit

Type 2 Diabetes = 3 months follow up visit

Book your follow up appointment at your first visit so you know you're coming back!

That way you're be more likely to follow through with your lifestyle changes because there's a deadline!
