Sorghum Chia Drop Biscuit Recipe

Do you miss fresh baked biscuits with your soup? You don't have too! I've got the perfect recipe for you!

My Sorghum Chia Drop Biscuit Recipe has just the right amount of fiber so your blood sugar will be stable for hours!


Every time I've made my Sorghum Chia Drop Biscuit Recipe for my friends (which is a lot because they all love them!) they always say, "These taste like Bisquick biscuits!"

Well, they actually do!

And don't fret if you have to eat gluten free! There's no gluten in my Sorghum Chia Drop Biscuit Recipe! I've used sorghum flour instead.

The nice thing about sorghum flour is that it naturally tastes sweet. That means you really don't need much sweetener to make a really nice drop biscuit.

So let's get baking!

Sorghum Chia Drop Biscuit Recipe 

Makes: 12

(gluten free, dairy free)


  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  • Mix the dry ingredients and add the Earth Balance, using a pastry blender to 'chop' up the vegan butter into very small pieces (this is important). You can use a fork to do this, it just takes longer.
  • Mix the vegan butter thoroughly into the dry ingredients.
  • Mix the honey and milk together in a bowl with a fork or whisk.
  • Add the wet to the dry and mix with a fork. The 'dough' will be wet. Let the dough sit for 10 minutes (my recipe testers discovered that waiting will produce a lighter biscuit - what a great tip!!!).
  • Drop soup-spoon-sized amounts of the mix onto a parchment-lined baking sheet. If you don’t like making a mess, you can use a little ice cream scoop like I do! I use my medium sized scoop which is 1/8 cup. (I love my scoops!)
  • Bake for 20 minutes. The biscuits should be slightly brown on the top and underside.
