What’s Been Going On In The Healthy U Group? Update

We've been having lots of fun in the Healthy U Group! Who says Diabetes Prevention is boring? (not us!)

Here's just some of the stuff us HUG Sisters have been up to.


Weekly Mini Assignments

Each week our HUG Sisters get 3 small assignments to do over the next week...

...one assignment for Exercise, one for Lifestyle, and one for Food.

Why are we always changing up these assignments?

Two reasons:

  • FIRST, so things don't get boring
  • SECOND, because it's way easier to reach smaller goals than super big ones that take forever to reach

Some of our recent weekly mini assignments were all about boosting immunity, reducing stress and trying to eat more healthy meals and snacks!

(All SUPER, SUPER important stuff so you don't get sick!)

Another reason our mini assignments are pretty cool is because the HUG Sisters share LOTS and LOTS of photos of their meals, places they exercised, and things that inspire them.

These photos help us to get to know each other AND they give us lots of ideas of new meals we can make!

Spring 2020 Exercise Palooza

In the last month or so, we've been having our Spring 2020 Exercise Palooza!

This is where the HUG Sisters keep track of their exercise so we can meet our daily goal of getting exercise!

Exercise Palooza makes it fun and wayyyyyy easier than trying to go it alone.

The HUG Sisters are doing a great job of making an effort to do some sort of exercise everyday, even if some days they don't feel very motivated! (That's normal, by the way.)

It's amazing how you much MORE exercise you do when you're ACCOUNTABLE to other women like you and you're keeping track of what you're doing!

Live with Joan Sessions

One of the big benefits of our Healthy U Group is our online "Live with Joan" sessions.

This is a great time for the HUG Sisters to talk to each other, ask their questions, and learn about:

  • How to get healthier
  • How to keep on track with goals around weight loss and Diabetes reversal

For example, just last week we talked about "How To Protect Yourself From Hormone Disruptors".

This topic is super important because Hormone Disruptors are linked to things like Diabetes, PCOS, Obesity and Thyroid problems!!!!

Joan showed the HUG Sisters lots of examples of household products that are Hormone Disruptors.

They also discovered what to use as healthy alternatives.

After that live session, there was lots of checking plastic containers, non-stick pans, cleaning products, shampoo bottles and makeup!

Group Tallies

Another motivating thing we do in the Healthy U Group is to keep weekly group tallies. We're always keeping track of something!


Because it's so much easier to see how well you're doing (or not doing) when you can SEE what you did over the past week or month.

Here are some of the things we've been tracking of the last few months through our group tallies:

  • Meals without Meat
  • Meals with Beans and Lentils
  • Servings of Fruit and Veggies
  • Minutes Walked

It's sooooo amazing how you make that extra effort when you keep track AND are accountable to others!

Is it too easy to get off track because nobody notices when you do?

In the Healthy U Group we stay on track with weekly check-ins...

Staying at Home to Save Lives

Then there's all the coronavirus infections in the world.

That means most of the HUG Sisters are under some sort of "Stay at Home", "Shelter in Place" or Lockdown.

That's why we’ve been helping each other deal with this strange time by keeping in touch every day and sharing our experiences.

Even getting groceries or toilet paper can be a challenge now!

Fortunately, we’ve also found out there are quite a few benefits to staying at home more too!
